Remembering In Our Prayers
Doug Odera and
Hunter Southerland
serving in the United States Armed Forces, stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq. Pray for God’s protection, on both them and those serving with them. May they be a blessing to those around them as they faithfully serve the Lord and their country.
Tim Ritchie
his heart is now operating on its own, but pray that his heart may continue on its path towards complete healing. We may rejoice in God's goodness that Tim is feeling well. Each month without a transplant or heart device is truly a blessing.
The people of
California and the Central US
pray that the families who have lost everything —their homes and loved ones— may look to the Lord for understanding and strength in their distress. May they swiftly find their foothold in Him and rise from their present conditions.
The Children of
Akwa Ibom, Niger
pray for the children of Akwa Ibom, Niger. There has been an invasion of corrupt Christianity into the region that has lead to the torture and death of many innocent children blamed for witchcraft. Please pray that there be a new light that shines brighter than the dark of corruption, that the true belief in Christ may overcome that which now destroys both families and lives in Africa. May God show mercy on the innocent children who find themselves affected by the false teaching of so many who claim to be Christian. And through the work of those like CRARN, may they find refuge and be lead to the true and right understanding of who Christ is.  Watch the videos to learn more...
The people of
Burma
pray for the people of Burma in their time of great need. May those who travel to their country bringing with them aid, have the supplies to fullfill both the peoples' physical and spiritual needs.  What more can I do?
The people of
China
pray for the families and victims of the earthquake and flooding. As they strive to rebuild their lives and cities; may those who know the Lord find opportunities open, that they may share the Gospel of Christ to those who are lost.  What more can I do?
The people of
Somalia
the Somalis are facing a food shortage across the country. Pray that the internal conflicts that ravage the country may come to a close allowing families to return to their homes, foreign food aid to arrive those who need it most, and those that have the Love of Christ overflowing within them may share this Peace with the lost.  What more can I do?

Church Activities and Announcements

All Age Sunday School:  [May 31st, Sunday]
Our current Sunday School classes are based on the book “Jesus at the Center: Why I‘m a Lutheran” and led jointly by Mike Svoboda and Pastor Nemoyer. It is never too late to join in. We ask that all those interested please stay after worship service on Sunday.

The Lutheran Study Bible:  [May 31st, Sunday]
Concordia Publishing House is releasing The Lutheran Study Bible on Reformation Day this year. They have sent an extensive preview/sampler to the congregation for us to review in case the congregation or individuals would like to pre-order a copy. Diane has the sampler if you would like to review it.

Church Council Meeting:  [June 2nd, Tuesday]
Scheduled the first Tuesday of each month.

Lutheran Disaster Response:
Hurricane Response -
Just two weeks after the landfall of Hurricane Gustav, an even stronger storm -- Hurricane Ike -- has made U.S. landfall near Galveston Island, along the Texas Gulf Coast. Lutheran Disaster Response coordinators there have secured all assets and will begin the process of assessment as quickly as possible. Until more is known about the scope of damage from this storm, the response is simply immeasurable. However, there will be needs in the affected areas, and Lutheran Disaster Response will seek to serve those communities in their recovery process. Please visit the LDR Web site, where up to date information about the impact of these storms will be posted as available.  What more can I do?

Midwest Flooding -
In response to the Midwest flooding, volunteers are now beginning to be coordinated by various organizations. Volunteers will be needed for quite some time to come as the long process of cleaning-up and rebuilding gets underway.  What more can I do?

Tornado Response -
Volunteer work crews are needed for rebuilding projects in Greensburg, Kansas, where an EF-5 tornado destroyed most of the town on May 4, 2007. Skilled volunteers -- those with construction and rebuilding experience -- are of the utmost importance as the work continues.
 What more can I do?
